Crane Operator

Job Purpose

The successful candidate will be responsible for operating the mobile crane safely and efficiently according to standard operating procedures to ensure safety and performance requirements are met.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities

• Perform daily and weekly inspection, maintenance, and cleaning procedures on the crane, chain, sling, and pads; report any deviations to the Foreman
• Assist in breakdown or maintenance work as required
• Ensure proper handover procedures to ensure effective and safe operations
• Park the machine in a safe position
• Work with Supervisors and Customers in determining the work to be completed
• Work with Rigger technicians to complete work to safe and acceptable standards
• Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and participate in Risk Assessments before attending any task
• Contribute to problem-solving during continuous improvement meetings by identifying areas for improvement and making suggestions
• Ensure that work is done to the relevant safety standards
• Perform all tasks according to Kilombero Sugar's Quality, Safety, Health, and Environment policies and procedures
• Report any non-conforming, unsafe, or unhealthy situations that may impact the environment to your supervisor using the existing incident report system
• Ensure that all operations are carried out in accordance with ISO 9001/ISO 22000 standards to achieve quality and food safety requirements
• Carry out any other requested duties relating to the facility

Job Qualifications and Experience

• Certificate of Lifting Operation Course from a recognized institution
• Valid Driver's License (Class G and F)
