Accountant (Aquaculture Operations)

Company Overview

LZ Fish Suppliers is a fast-growing aquaculture company based in Ukerewe specializing in fish farming, processing, and distribution. Our operations include cage farming, feed management, harvesting, processing, cold storage, and sales to regional markets. We are seeking a highly competent and business-oriented Accountant to strengthen our financial management and support strategic growth.

Position Summary

The Accountant will oversee financial operations, cost control, and reporting functions of the aquaculture business. The ideal candidate must combine strong accounting skills with practical business acumen, particularly in production costing, inventory management, and cash flow planning.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Management & Reporting

• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
• Manage general ledger, reconciliations, and journal entries
• Ensure compliance with Tanzanian tax laws (TRA, VAT, PAYE, Withholding Tax)
• Coordinate external audits and statutory reporting

Cost Accounting (Critical Role in Aquaculture)

• Track and analyze feed costs, fingerlings costs, mortality rates, harvest yields, and processing and cold storage costs
• Calculate cost per kg of fish produced
• Develop production cost models and margin analysis
• Monitor cage-by-cage performance profitability

Inventory & Asset Control

• Oversee inventory management for fish stock (live and harvested), feed, and packaging materials
• Implement stock control systems and reduce shrinkage
• Manage fixed asset register (boats, cages, generators, cold rooms)

Budgeting & Business Planning

• Prepare annual budgets and rolling forecasts
• Monitor budget performance and variance analysis
