Medical Specialist II (Ophthalmologist)

About the Role

Muhimbili National Hospital (MNH) seeks a dedicated Medical Specialist II (Ophthalmologist) to provide specialized ophthalmic medical services and clinical leadership in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide routine specialized medical services for in-patients and out-patients
• Supervise ward rounds and advise on appropriate medication
• Participate in the training of student doctors in ophthalmology
• Plan, supervise, and evaluate medical services offered in ophthalmology
• Prepare periodic reports regarding ophthalmology services and outcomes
• Conduct research in ophthalmology and publish results for expert consumption
• Supervise junior medical doctors and provide technical guidance
• Plan and supervise outreach programmes in ophthalmology
• Perform other related duties assigned by the Supervisor

Required Qualifications

• Master of Medicine (M.Med) in Ophthalmology
• Bachelor Degree in Medicine
• Registration with the Medical Council of Tanganyika
