Le Rwanda est relativement abordable comparé aux pays occidentaux, avec un coût de vie inférieur à celui de la région. Un repas local coûte 1-3 USD, le loyer d'un petit appartement à Kigali environ 200-400 USD. Kigali est plus chère que les autres villes.

À Kigali, les principaux moyens sont les motos-taxis (très populaires), les bus, les taxis privés et les véhicules personnels. Les routes se sont améliorées ces dernières années. Pour les distances, les bus interurbains sont économiques. Uber et Yego (motos) opèrent à Kigali.
