Upholstery Maker / Furniture Carcass Maker

Position Overview

Beaumont Luxe Interiors is expanding its dynamic team and seeking skilled talent for our Lagos facility. As an Upholsterer, you will manufacture and repair furniture with soft, padded textile coverings, including armchairs, sofas, and bedheads. This role involves selecting, measuring, cutting, fitting, and sewing fabric and leather materials to create high-quality household furnishings.

Key Responsibilities

• Attach fabric to upholstered pieces using glue, staples, hand-sewing, or machine-sewing techniques
• Add embellishments such as buttons and decorative details according to designer specifications or customer requirements
• Apply and install batting, foam, poly-filler, and cut fabric to wooden frameworks using power and hand tools for hand-crafted furniture assembly
• Attach finishing details including buttons, trim, tassels, and other decorative accessories to complete orders to specifications
• Measure and cut fabric or leather pieces using patterns, stencils, and industrial cutting tools with precision
• Read work orders and maintain a production status database for communication with external clients and in-house sales managers
• Inspect wooden frameworks for defects and complete necessary repairs prior to upholstery application and finish work
• Operate portable hand-sewing equipment, nail guns, hobnail and tack hammers, hot-knife cutters, and other industrial equipment
• Monitor fabric inventory and place orders with textile partners; provide status updates on fabric availability to clients and managers
• Communicate production challenges and assembly line issues with supervisors and contribute to productivity improvement solutions

Requirements

• FSLC, NCE, HND, or OND qualification
• 5–20 years of relevant work experience
• Working familiarity with tools such as tack pullers, chisels, mallets, and stretchers
• Ability to estimate material costs
