Translation of EORE Comic Book (call for Translators)

About The Role

The Big Smile Foundation is expanding its team and seeking a skilled translator to work on the EORE comic book project. You will translate educational content designed for children, ensuring technical accuracy while making the material culturally appropriate and engaging for young learners in Borno State.

Key Responsibilities

• Translate EORE comic book text, including dialogues, captions, instructions, and safety messages
• Ensure technical accuracy of EORE messages in line with UNMAS standards
• Adapt content to be culturally sensitive and age-appropriate, particularly for children
• Maintain consistency of terminology throughout the comic book
• Support revisions based on feedback from TBSF and technical reviewers
• Deliver translated content within agreed timelines

Required Qualifications

• At least 2 years' experience in translation or related language services
• Proven experience translating educational, child-friendly, or humanitarian materials
• Strong understanding of local language and cultural context in Borno State
• Ability to translate technical EORE messages into simple, understandable language
• Good written communication skills
• Familiarity with child safeguarding and PSEA principles
• Fluency in English

Desirable Skills

• Fluency in Kanuri and Hausa languages
• Demonstrated ability to multi-task and process information into action in a timely manner
• Outstanding organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines effectively
