Position Overview:
- A Storekeeping Manager (or Store Manager in charge of inventory) plays a very important control role in hotels, restaurants, and other businesses.
- They are responsible for receiving, storing, issuing, and monitoring all stock and supplies used in operations.
Responsibilties
- Keep accurate records of all items in the store (food items, beverages, cleaning materials, maintenance supplies, etc.)
- Monitor stock levels to avoid shortages or overstocking
- Conduct regular stock counts (daily, weekly, or monthly)
- Investigate and report any stock differences or losses
- Receive deliveries from suppliers
- Check quantity and quality of items against purchase orders and invoices
- Reject damaged, expired, or incorrect items
- Ensure proper documentation of all received goods
- Arrange items in an orderly and safe manner
- Follow FIFO (First In, First Out) or FEFO (First Expiry, First Out) methods
- Ensure perishable goods are stored at correct temperatures
- Maintain cleanliness and hygiene of store areas
- Issue items only with authorized store requisition forms
- Ensure departments receive the correct quantity requested
- Keep records of all items issued daily
- Maintain bin cards, stock cards, or inventory software records
- Prepare daily/weekly/monthly stock reports
- Report low stock levels for timely reordering
- Work closely with purchasing and accounts departments
- Prevent theft, damage, and misuse of store items
- Restrict access to authorized staff only
- Monitor high-value or sensitive items carefully
- Work with kitchen, bar, housekeeping, and maintenance teams
- Ensure all departments get needed supplies on time
- Support cost control by preventing waste and over-issuing
- Follow company policies and procedures
- Observe food safety and storage standards (especially in hotels)
- Ensure fire safety and safe stacking of goods.
