Don’t miss this opportunity to join our team in West Africa and be our new Branch Development Delegate for Mali and Burkina Faso, based in Bamako.The Mali Red Cross (MRCS), founded on 20 August 1965 as a non-profit auxiliary to the public authorities. Over the years, MRCS has transformed from an organisation primarily known for emergency response into a nationwide humanitarian actor with a decentralised structure. It is now present in all 11 regional capitals, with more than 300 staff and over 10,000 community volunteers, including in hard-to-reach and conflict-affected areas. Investments in National Society Development (NSD) have reinforced this decentralisation, by enhanced governance structures, and strengthening the capacity of regional and local branches to act as first responders.The Burkinabe Red Cross Society (BRCS) is a key national humanitarian organization. With a network of more than 45,000 volunteers working in 45 branches across the country, the BRCS responds to crises and disasters, and implements development programmes.The primary role of the Branch Development Delegate will be to technically support the two National Societies in their organizational capacity development journey, using established Red Cross Red Crescent Movement tools and guidance as well as supporting in developing good practices. This entails supporting MRCS and BRCS in developing and implementing Branch Development plans and strengthening its capacity. Secondly, an important role of the delegate will be to contribute to conducive Movement coordination in-county in alignment with MRCS and BRCS priorities. Thirdly, the delegate will contribute to learning, documenting, and sharing of relevant experiences with regards to Branch Development support in areas affected by conflict and protracted crisis.Given the focus on developing strong local branches that can support and strengthen vulnerable communities in times of conflict, disaster, and everyday hardship, the delegate will need to travel extensively within the countries.The position is contracted by the Danish Red Cross (DRC) and managed through the ICRC. The Delegate will be incorporated into the ICRC Mali delegation with frequent travels to Burkina Faso and will follow the ICRC line-management, Security management as well as other standard operation procedures of the ICRC. The DRC will be responsible for the technical supervision of the delegate, in line with the provisions in the ICRC-DRC Global Thematic agreement and DRC’s Localisation approach.
