Busbar Processing Technician

The Busbar Processing Technician will be responsible for the fabrication, modification, and assembly of cop- per and aluminium busbars used in electrical switchboards and power distribution systems. The role requires precision, technical expertise, and a strong understanding of electrical clearances, current ratings, and safety standards. Key Responsibilities:

• Fabricate, cut, bend, punch, drill, and assemble copper and aluminium busbars according to engineering drawings

• Interpret busbar layout drawings, single-line diagrams, and technical specifications

• Operate busbar processing machinery including punching, bending, and cutting equipment

• Maintain required electrical clearances and creepage distances

• Ensure correct dimensional tolerances, alignment, and surface finishing

• Perform quality inspections and measurements using appropriate tools

• Follow workplace health and safety procedures at all times

• Assist with busbar installation into switchboards and panel assemblies

• Maintain tools, equipment, and a clean working environment

Requirements:

• Diploma in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent)

• Minimum 3 years' experience in busbar fabrication or a similar role within switchboard manufacturing

• Strong understanding of power distribution systems and busbar design principles

• Experience working with copper and aluminium conductors

• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation

• Experience operating busbar punching, cutting, and bending machines

• Knowledge of electrical standards relating to busbar spacing, insulation, and fault levels

• High level of precision and attention to detail

• Strong understanding of workshop safety practices
