## Title: Cashier - Claims & Billing
About the Position
We invite applications from suitably qualified candidates for the position of Cashier specializing in claims and billing management.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure adherence to established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) in inpatient (IP) and outpatient (OP) claims management
- Verify that all insurance company requirements are met before claims submission
- Follow discharge procedure authorization and billing closing procedures, obtaining appropriate approvals and sign-offs
- Ensure all IP bills and SHIF OP bills are properly closed in HMIS before submission to the Finance Claims Office
- Submit complete sets of claims processing documents and bills to the Finance Claims Office within 24 hours of patient discharge or receipt from OP for SHIF OP bills
- Maintain organized files of IP/OP checklists
- Send daily status reports of all corporate and cash inpatient cases to credit control
- Provide daily status reports to corporates and insurance companies, escalating any situations where patient Letter of Understanding (LOU) or pre-authorization limits are likely to be exceeded within the next 24 hours to request increases or engage patients on cash payment arrangements
- Prepare weekly reports on finalized invoices for the Finance Claims and Credit Control departments, documented in the control book
- Ensure completeness and accuracy of all claims and invoices by verifying pre-authorization/LOU, doctor signatures, client claims and bills, diagnosis presence, case notes, discharge summaries, membership/policy numbers, limit compliance, and applicable smart reports
Qualifications & Experience
- Degree in Finance or Accounting, or ACCA Part 2, CPA K Part, or Sec 2 or above
- 2 years of accounting experience, preferably in a hospital setting
