## Title: Accountant
Position Overview
This position offers a great opportunity for career growth within a collaborative organization focused on gender and development.
Key Responsibilities
- Update and maintain Cashbook and Ledger in the Accounting system
- Prepare monthly bank reconciliations and reconcile discrepancies
- Ensure timely payments of office utilities including electricity, internet, rent, and statutory deductions
- Complete Finance documents (receipts, payment vouchers, etc.) and maintain accurate records
- Assist in verification and review of staff salaries
- Clean and review data entries in QuickBooks
- Reconcile bank accounts periodically and manage creditor/debtor accounts, advising on resolution of differences
- Receive and verify payment requests to ensure accuracy and accountability before processing
- Oversee preparation and completion of reimbursement forms
- Support program teams with financial reports for donor partners
- Support preparation for audits
- Manage cheque books and issue cheques for payment in accordance with organizational policies and procedures
- Ensure all payments comply with taxation, banking, and relevant laws and policies
- Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisor
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- CPA-K certification
- Minimum 3-5 years of working experience, preferably in an NGO or similar setup
Required Skills and Experience
- Proficiency in NGO financial systems such as QuickBooks
- Strong understanding of donor report preparation
- Strong budgeting, cash flow management, and financial analysis skills
- Familiarity with grant management, donor regulations, audit processes, and compliance requirements
