## Title: Senior Researcher I

About the Ethiopian Economics Association (EEA)

The Ethiopian Economics Association (EEA) is a non-profit, non-partisan, and non-religious professional association established in 1991. The EEA undertakes evidence-based analysis and research on evolving socioeconomic realities, organizes forums for policy discussion, builds capacity among members and stakeholders, disseminates research outputs through various channels, and promotes the study of economics in educational institutions throughout the country.

Job Summary

The EEA seeks an experienced Senior Researcher to lead high-quality, policy-relevant research initiatives and manage the Association's key publications. This position requires a well-qualified, versatile individual capable of independently conducting research while overseeing publication quality and production. The role is divided between two main components: approximately 70% research activities and 30% publication management responsibilities, with particular focus on the Ethiopian Journal of Economics.

Key Responsibilities

Research Component (70%)

  • Prepare concept notes and grant proposals to mobilize financial and non-financial resources for research funding
  • Design and conduct high-quality, policy-relevant research on the Ethiopian economy, focusing on areas including macroeconomy, poverty, trade, agriculture, finance, and labor
  • Author and co-author working papers, policy briefs, and research reports for EEA publication
  • Present research findings at national and international conferences, workshops, and policy forums
  • Provide technical mentorship and backstopping to junior researchers and research assistants
  • Collaborate with the research team to translate research findings into actionable policy advice
  • Prepare terms of reference (ToRs) for research projects, training sessions, and forums
  • Deliver training sessions to partners on selected thematic areas
  • Provide technical guidance and support to research initiatives

Publication Component (30%)

Manage the production and quality assurance of the Association's publications, with emphasis on the Ethiopian Journal of Economics.
