Field Officer, TOV Project

Position Overview

The American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee (AJJDC) seeks a dedicated Field Officer to support the introduction, promotion, and effective utilization of improved Israeli agricultural technologies among smallholder farmers in Ethiopia. The Field Officer will play a key role in on-ground implementation of the TOV Project, supporting smallholder farmers—especially women—in adopting climate-smart, Israeli agricultural technologies. This position ensures high-quality extension services, capacity building, and strong collaboration with government and nongovernment partners to enhance agricultural productivity within TOV operational areas.

Key Responsibilities

Promotion and Training in Agricultural Technologies

• Introduce and promote improved Israeli agricultural technologies (hybrid vegetable seeds, drip irrigation systems, etc.) using appropriate extension approaches including household visits, group discussions, field days, farmer-to-farmer exchange visits, and video demonstrations
• Support farmers in accessing technologies and ensure all systems are correctly installed and fully functional
• Identify, select, and link target farmers with relevant institutions to facilitate access to Israeli agricultural technologies and inputs
• Promote production-enhancing technologies and improved agronomic practices across operational areas
• Deliver high-quality extension training and continuous follow-up support to ensure adoption of improved practices
• Establish and manage demonstration sites in Farmers Training Centers
