Kelem International School (KIS) is a Cognia-accredited, not-for-profit school offering education from Pre-KG to Grade 10. Originally established under the Swedish Embassy in Ethiopia in 1946, the school reopened as an independent institution in July 2019.

Position Overview

The Accountant will analyze financial transactions, prepare payroll, prepare financial statements, and report findings to management. This role includes maintaining correspondence with parents regarding payment completion and ensuring accurate financial record-keeping.

Reporting Structure

  • Reports to: Finance and Admin Manager
  • Coordinates with: Cashier/Secretary, Administration Assistant, Admissions Officer, HR Manager

Working Hours

  • Monday – Thursday: 7:45 am – 4:00 pm
  • Friday: 7:45 am – 3:00 pm

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyze operations, trends, costs, revenues, financial commitments, and obligations incurred
  • Record, maintain, and analyze budgets
  • Prepare periodic reports comparing budgeted costs to actual costs
  • Analyze records of financial transactions to determine accuracy and completeness of entries using accounting software
  • Prepare monthly payroll and reconcile it with bank payments
  • Maintain correspondence with parents regarding payment completion
