Senior Accountant (#Readvertised)

Position Overview

The Senior Accountant is responsible for overseeing and managing daily accounting operations, ensuring the accuracy of financial data, and preparing key financial reports. This role involves maintaining the general ledger, performing complex reconciliations, and assisting in the preparation of financial statements. The Senior Accountant works closely with the finance team to ensure compliance with accounting standards and internal policies, and plays a key role in supporting month-end and year-end closing processes.

Position Details

• Reports To: Finance Manager
• Duty Station: Addis Ababa Head Office
• Salary & Benefits: Negotiable, commensurate with qualifications and experience

Key Responsibilities

Financial Reporting

• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
• Ensure financial reports are accurate and comply with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS)
• Assist in financial analysis and forecasting to support management decision-making

General Ledger Management

• Maintain the general ledger by posting and reviewing journal entries
• Perform month-end and year-end closing processes, including balance sheet reconciliations
• Ensure that all financial transactions are properly recorded and classified

Reconciliations

• Perform reconciliations for key accounts such as cash, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and inventory
• Perform periodic bank reconciliations
• Investigate and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner
• Ensure that intercompany transactions are properly reconciled and accounted for

Audit Support

• Coordinate with external auditors to ensure timely and accurate completion of audits
• Prepare supporting documentation for audits, ensuring compliance with internal controls and external regulations
• Implement audit recommendations to improve internal accounting processes

Tax and Compliance

• Assist in the preparation and filing of tax returns
