About the Organization
The Ethiopian Society of Obstetricians & Gynecologists (ESOG) is a premier professional association established in 1992 in response to the Safe Motherhood Initiative. Dedicated to improving maternal, newborn, and reproductive health outcomes across Ethiopia, ESOG serves as a collective professional voice working in close partnership with the Federal Ministry of Health and international stakeholders to combat high maternal and perinatal mortality.
With approximately 1,000 members as of 2025, ESOG operates from its Addis Ababa headquarters and eight regional chapter offices. The organization is staffed by 34 salaried employees and supported by members working throughout Ethiopia.
Position Overview
Employment Type: Short-term contract (up to 6 months)
Duty Station: Ethiopian Society of Obstetricians and Gynecologists headquarters, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, with possible travel to regional branch offices
Job Summary
The Human Resources and Members' Affairs consultant will be responsible for developing guidelines and tools that strengthen ESOG's operations across two key areas:
- Strengthen ESOG's internal salaried human resource systems
- Establish ESOG's volunteer members' affairs unit
Key Activities and Deliverables
A. Human Resources Management
1. Structures and Processes
- Develop organizational business processing structure aligned with ESOG's constitution and strategic objectives
- Conduct Business Process Reengineering (BPR)
- Create an organization chart detailing reporting structures
- Identify HR requirements (type, skill level, and minimum numbers) for each work unit and department
- Produce estimates for short-term and long-term HR requirements
