Job description

## Title: Accessibility Modification Construction Works

Background

Ethiopian Center for Disability and Development (ECDD) is an Ethiopian Development Organization established in 2005 and reregistered at the Agency for Civil Society Organizations as an Ethiopian Development Civil Society Organization with Certificate № 0321 under Proclamation № 1113/2019.

ECDD works with other organizations to promote and facilitate the inclusion of persons with disabilities and disability issues in mainstream service delivery and development programs. The organization envisions an Inclusive Ethiopia where persons with disabilities exercise the same rights and have access to the same services and opportunities enjoyed by other citizens.

Project Overview

Based on accessibility audit findings, this project will support the introduction of shelter infrastructure improvements in selected areas of shelter compounds across seven facilities:

  • All God's Children Ethiopia
  • Hope for Children Ethiopia
  • Hope for Justice
  • Organizations for Prevention, Rehabilitation, and Integration of Female Street Children (OPRIFS)

These shelters serve both boys and girls (except OPRIFS, which serves girls only). The improvements aim to provide access to inclusive and dignified shelters for children with disabilities, protecting them from forced begging.

Scope of Work

The project will undertake accessibility modification construction works to improve shelter infrastructure accessibility and disability-friendliness, including:

  • Installation of movable entrance metal ramps
  • Installation of signage
  • Installation of stickers

Project Goals

This initiative will demonstrate the accommodations and modifications required for children with disabilities to participate fully in shelter facilities. The project will serve as a model accessible shelter, enabling shelter administrators to practice and learn from these modifications for their future construction projects.
