Position Overview
The Protection Officer - Response contributes to Medical Teams' mission by implementing response activities including case management, psychosocial support, safe space activities, and related projects. The position holder will train and supervise social workers and community activists in refugee camps and host communities to prevent and respond to gender-based violence (GBV) issues.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and develop weekly and monthly work plans for GBV-related prevention activities, ensuring alignment with overall program objectives
- Implement GBV prevention and response activities, including fieldwork and community-based programs in accordance with GBV IASC guidelines and best practices
- Train and mentor social workers and community activists on GBV prevention and response strategies
- Provide ongoing mentorship and capacity building for community workers and activists
- Develop and oversee weekly, monthly, and quarterly work plans
- Utilize monitoring and evaluation systems to ensure high-quality services
- Facilitate communication, collaboration, and coordination among partners from the protection, health, legal, and psychosocial sectors
- Support efforts to reduce the incidence of violence against women in target communities
