About NEWA
The Network of Ethiopian Women's Associations (NEWA) is a pioneer national coalition of women associations dedicated to advancing women's rights, gender equality, women's empowerment, and combating gender-based violence (GBV). NEWA is strategically positioned to advocate for women's rights and ensure the respect and promotion of women's rights through the proper implementation of gender-sensitive policies, laws, and programs at national and regional levels.
NEWA comprises 50 member associations and organizations working to ensure women's interests are factored into national plans and policies, and to realize women's social, economic, political, and legal entitlements at all levels in accordance with national and international instruments.
Job Summary
The Program Officer is a senior position responsible for leading the design, implementation, and monitoring of projects focusing on women's empowerment and the prevention of gender-based violence and harmful traditional practices (GBV/HTP). These projects will be implemented across different regions of Ethiopia.
The Program Officer will execute, facilitate, and exercise effective day-to-day coordination and management of projects according to the Network's standards, donor requirements, and institutional culture. The position supports operational efforts to fulfill NEWA's mandate and obligations regarding women's empowerment and GBV/HTP prevention, risk mitigation, and response at the national level.
The Program Officer collaborates closely with NEWA head office staff and field program teams, and strengthens working relationships with donors, partners, member organizations, and stakeholders involved in GBV/HTP prevention, risk mitigation, and response. All NEWA staff are accountable for performing their duties as reflected in their job descriptions.
