Project Overview

The RAISE-FS LOGIC project addresses critical challenges in Ethiopia's agro-logistics sector. Key issues include insufficient refrigerated transport and storage facilities, capacity gaps among actors, high transportation costs, poor infrastructure, and disorganized fleets. These factors contribute to delays in product delivery, increased post-harvest losses, reduced product quality, and limited marketability. Additionally, inadequate sorting, grading, and packaging according to safety standards result in produce rejection in international markets.

The RAISE-LOGIC project aims to enhance agri-food sector resilience by improving the efficiency and sustainability of logistics systems. It will build the capacity of chain actors and scale innovations to maintain product quality and safety along the supply chain for avocado, banana, and potato value chains.

Position Details

• Duty Station: Hawassa, with frequent travel to three hubs:
  • Shashemene Potato hub (Sidama and Oromia regions)
  • Dale Avocado hub (Sidama region)
  • Arba Minch Banana hub (South Ethiopia region)
  • Linked production sites
• Duration: One year, subject to annual renewal based on performance and availability of funding
• Reports to: Team Leader, Hawassa Liaison Office
