Organizational Background
HUNDEE - Oromo Grassroots Development Initiative is a local non-partisan, not-for-profit, and secular charity organization established in April 1995. HUNDEE envisions a just world where women, men, boys, and girls live in dignity and prosperity. The organization promotes various projects in development and community education interventions.
HUNDEE has secured funding to implement a project delivering family-focused HIV prevention, testing, care services, and interventions for vulnerable children across multiple towns in Oromia National Regional State, including Adaba, Adola, Bule-Hora, Negele Arsi, Odo-Shakiso, Shakiso, Shashemene, Yabello, Becho, Burayu, Woliso, Kofele, and Dire (Mega).
Project Purpose
The main purpose of this project is to strengthen local HIV epidemic control with the following targets:
- 95% of individuals living with HIV know their status
- 95% of persons living with HIV initiate antiretroviral therapy
- 95% of clients on antiretroviral therapy achieve viral load suppression
Position Summary
Under the direction and close supervision of the HIV Service Specialist, the HIV Service Officer is primarily responsible for delivering town-level HIV prevention, care, and testing activities to meet established targets.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver town-level comprehensive HIV prevention, care, and testing activities and targets
- Facilitate linkage between community and health facilities, placing client and family needs and preferences at the center of care coordination
- Collaborate with project staff to achieve project objectives, strategies, and operational plans
- Establish partnerships with stakeholders and develop Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs) outlining shared roles and responsibilities
- Distribute line list formats to health facilities and collect line list data
