Heavy Equipment Operator (Excavator)

About the Role

Mullege PLC is seeking an experienced Heavy Equipment Operator to join our team in Addis-Ababa, Ethiopia. In this senior-level, full-time position, you will operate excavators and other heavy machinery to support construction and architectural projects. You will ensure that all equipment is operated safely and efficiently while contributing to the successful completion of projects in compliance with industry standards and regulations.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate excavators and heavy machinery to execute excavation, grading, and other construction activities
• Conduct pre-operation inspections of equipment to ensure safety and functionality
• Communicate effectively with team members and project managers to understand project requirements
• Maintain accurate records of work performed and equipment usage
• Adhere to all safety protocols and regulations to minimize risks on the job site
• Assist in the loading and unloading of materials as needed
• Monitor equipment performance and report any malfunctions or maintenance needs
• Train and mentor junior operators on best practices and safety procedures
• Coordinate with site supervisors to optimize workflow and project timelines
• Ensure cleanliness and organization of the work area and machinery

Required Qualifications

• 5–8 years of experience operating excavators and heavy equipment
• Proficiency in equipment operation and site safety practices
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Ability to maintain accurate records and documentation
• Knowledge of industry safety standards and regulations
• Experience mentoring junior operators (preferred)
