About the Organization

Development Expertise Center (DEC) is a national civil society organization registered in Ethiopia. The organization implements five major programs: Child Well-being and Education Development, Gender and Life Skill Development, Employable Skills Development, Advocacy, and Humanitarian Emergency Programs.

DEC actively works across seven National Regional States and one city administration of Ethiopia, including Amhara, Afar, Oromia, Tigray, South West Ethiopia, Gambela, Benishangul Gumuz, and Addis Ababa City Administration.

Position Summary

The Finance Coordinator is accountable for maintaining day-to-day financial and accounting records to keep financial settlements up to date in compliance with organizational policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities

• Participate in budget preparations and ensure that approved program and budget plans are formally issued to departments and projects
• Ensure that all financial and budgetary documents are completed and maintained according to the organization's accounting and budgetary policies
• Make support visits to projects and partners
• Perform internal audits of accounts payable, payroll distribution, and fixed assets
• Review and recommend modifications to accounting systems and procedures
• Ensure timely responses to external and internal communications regarding financial issues
• Ensure that financial and administrative reporting deadlines are respected
• Develop an annual work plan for the area of responsibility and work towards achievement of those plans
• Monitor the regular and timely preparation and submission of accounting and budgetary reports
• Assist the Admin & Financial Manager with the preparation and consolidation of the annual budget
• Perform other relevant tasks assigned by the immediate supervisor
