Community nutrition promoter

About the Role

As a Community Nutrition Promoter with World Vision Ethiopia, you will play a vital role in implementing community-based nutrition activities across woredas. You will work closely with health development armies, health extension workers, and community structures to ensure the timely and proper implementation of nutrition programs at the community level.

Key Responsibilities

• Coordinate and implement Community-Based Management of Acute Malnutrition (CMAM) activities in close collaboration with Health Extension Workers and community health structures
• Conduct community screening for early case finding and ensure beneficiaries are properly targeted and linked to Therapeutic Feeding Program (TFP) services
• Provide technical support for TFP implementation, including support for Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) and host communities
• Facilitate nutritional screening activities in coordination with Woreda Development Agents (WDAs) and Health Extension Workers (HEWs)
• Conduct regular cooking demonstrations and mass awareness creation sessions on nutrition
• Sensitize caretakers and Pregnant and Lactating Women (PLW) on family MUAC screening to identify TFP targets
• Establish, follow up, and provide technical support for mother-to-mother support groups at kebele level
• Ensure job aids and reference materials are available and properly utilized in health posts and TFP sites
• Support Infant and Young Child Feeding Education (IYCF-E) activities at the community level in collaboration with health extension workers and women's developmental army
• Provide basic nutritional advice to mothers and conduct patient follow-up for program defaulters
• Ensure nutrition management activities are implemented according to established protocols
