Position Overview
The U.S. Mission in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso seeks a qualified Automotive Mechanic Team Lead / Chief Mechanic for the General Services Office. This position is located in the Motor Pool/Auto-Mechanic Workshop Section and reports to the Motor Pool Supervisor.
Primary Responsibilities
- Serve as Chief Mechanic and supervise three automotive mechanics
- Perform general technical automotive mechanic services
- Conduct repairs on U.S. and foreign manufactured vehicles
- Service both gasoline and diesel engines
- Repair motorcycles and bicycles
- Operate mission vehicles and forklifts
- Communicate and coordinate with Motor Pool colleagues and Facilities Maintenance team members
Required Qualifications
Education
- Completion of Primary School
- Completion of automotive technical training (2 years minimum)
Experience
- Minimum 10 years of experience in general technical automotive mechanic services
- Demonstrated experience with repairs on U.S. and foreign manufactured vehicles
- Experience with both gasoline and diesel engines
Language Requirements
- English: Limited knowledge (Reading, Writing, Speaking)
- French: Good working knowledge (Reading, Writing, Speaking) — may be tested
Skills and Abilities
- Ability to drive all mission vehicles and operate forklift
- Valid local commercial driving license (Class "D")
- Strong communication skills with team members and colleagues
- Ability to work collaboratively across departments
Employment Terms
Work Schedule: Full-time (40 hours per week)
Salary: CFA 8,824,957 per annum (starting salary, Position Grade: FSN-06) for Ordinarily Resident (OR) applicants
