Position Overview
The U.S. Mission in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso is seeking qualified applicants for one (1) Information Assistant position in the Public Diplomacy Section (PD).
Basic Function
The incumbent advises and assists the Information Specialist in planning, developing, scheduling, and administering a country-wide media program that promotes U.S. policy and engages the public. The Information Assistant – Digital Outreach has responsibility for monitoring digital media trends and developing the Mission's digital presence. The incumbent also supports public diplomacy activities and initiatives of other PD units and Mission sections, and serves as backup to the Information Specialist.
Position Details
- Location: Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso
- Work Schedule: Full-time (40 hours/week)
- Position Grade: FSN-07
- Salary (Ordinarily Resident): CFA 9,123,040 per annum (starting)
Required Qualifications
Education
- Completion of secondary education
- Equivalent of one year post-secondary training in communication or university social sciences
Experience
- One to two years of progressive work experience
Language Requirements
- English: Level III (speaking and writing)
- French: Level IV (speaking and writing)
- Proficiency to be verified through technical testing
Skills and Abilities
- Proficiency in personal computers and mobile technology
- Advanced software skills, including Microsoft Office Suite
- Ability to exercise initiative and work independently
- Resourcefulness and sound judgment in obtaining information
- Ability to draft concise reports in English
- Familiarity with digital media platforms
