Water Quality Technician

Job Overview

We are seeking a qualified Water Quality Technician to ensure optimum water quality through regular sampling, monitoring, testing, and inspection of water parameters. This role is critical to preventing mortalities and maintaining healthy aquatic environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Check pond water parameters (temperature, pH, dissolved oxygen, etc.) at 07:00 AM, 3:00 PM, and in the evening before departure
• Calibrate equipment and verify data for accuracy; ensure proper record keeping
• Collect water samples from ponds and perform comprehensive water quality analysis
• Prepare daily water quality reports for submission to the Hatchery Manager
• Manage aeration systems—switch off once dissolved oxygen reaches above 3.0 mg/L and recheck every 30 minutes
• Monitor weather conditions to assess dissolved oxygen levels in ponds
• Exchange pond water when conditions deteriorate to prevent mortalities, considering cost implications
• Apply necessary minerals for water fertilization as needed

Required Qualifications

• Diploma in Fisheries Management & Technology, Biomedical Laboratory Technology, or related Fisheries discipline
• 1–2 years of experience in a similar or related role
• Ability to swim

• Ability to work unsupervised and under pressure
