## Title: Fish Feeder

Job Overview

Responsible for feeding fish and achieving optimal survival rates and well-being. This role requires monitoring water quality, fish health, and feeding behavior to prevent issues such as poor water conditions, excessive bird presence, fish gasping, and poor feed response.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure fish are fed the correct amount and type of feed according to feeding charts
  • Monitor feeding behavior and general health of the fish
  • Collect mortalities and maintain accurate records of all feed and mortality data
  • Weigh and record all feed rations given to fish
  • Check fingerling quantity, size, and feed type from provided inventory and feeding charts
  • Monitor and report any abnormalities such as changes in coloring, texture, or mold
  • Maintain cleanliness, neatness, and tidiness of the feeding site and all equipment
  • Prepare all appropriate equipment and feed before scheduled feeding times
  • Minimize feed spills and wastage
  • Properly clean, dry, and store all equipment including feed scoops and fish scoops
  • Ensure all equipment is stored in hatchery stores to prevent damage
  • Inspect Hapas, bird nets, aeration systems, and pond structures for damage or holes and report to supervisor
  • Ensure feed storage bins are watertight and storm-proof; take responsibility for any feed spills due to negligence after shift
  • Complete any other duties assigned by the supervisor

Required Skills, Training & Experience

  • Diploma in Fisheries Management and Technologies
  • Ability to swim and comfort working on water
  • Ability to perform simple mathematical calculations
  • Good communication skills including reading and writing proficiency
