Workshop Foreman

Job Summary

The Workshop Foreman is responsible for the day-to-day supervision of the technician team. They bridge the gap between Service Advisors and the workshop, ensuring workflow efficiency, quality control, and safety compliance. They allocate jobs based on technician skill sets and monitor progress to ensure vehicles are repaired on time.

Key Responsibilities

• Receive job cards from Service Advisors, prioritize work, and assign tasks to technicians based on their expertise and current workload
• Conduct final inspections of completed vehicles to ensure repair quality, safety, and cleanliness before delivery to customers
• Provide on-the-floor technical support to technicians facing challenges, assisting with diagnostics and repair procedures
• Monitor technician efficiency and productivity, ensuring repair times align with standard labor times
• Enforce strict adherence to health and safety regulations and maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free workshop environment
• Oversee the core return process for old parts and communicate urgent parts requirements to the parts department
• Perform or authorize road tests to verify noise, vibration, and handling concerns

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of experience as a skilled technician with 1-2 years in a supervisory or team lead role
• Strong leadership, time management, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to read and understand labor guides
• ASE or equivalent certifications
