Fire Officer

Position Overview

Kilombero Sugar Company Limited (KSCL) is seeking a Fire Officer for our manufacturing facility in Kilombero, Morogoro, Tanzania. This position offers a great opportunity for career growth in a dynamic protective services and management role.

Job Purpose

The successful candidate will ensure that all operations are carried out in accordance with Fire and Safety Acts/legislation of Tanzania, NOSA IMS, and ISO 9001:2015 at Kilombero Sugar to achieve and maintain safety and quality standards.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities

• Identify fire risks associated with company processes and communicate findings to the HS Manager
• Ensure adequate numbers and correct types of fire extinguishing equipment are present
• Ensure all fire team members are trained and that appointment letters are signed
• Facilitate Fire Hazard Identification and Risk assessment in your area of responsibility and ensure communication to all employees through fire drills (wet drills, dry drills, and desktop exercises)
• Identify all paints and other liquids (petrol, diesel, alcohol) used in your area of responsibility, ensure specific MSDS are available on site, verify chemicals are properly stored, and confirm correct waste management processes are followed for disposal
• Ensure all fire incidents in your area of responsibility are reported, investigated, and that corrective and preventive actions are implemented
• Ensure all Fire Fighting Equipment is available, effective, visible, accessible, and that employees are trained on equipment usage
• Develop, communicate, and ensure all employees understand the emergency plan within your area of responsibility
• Ensure all Procedures and Checklists related to fire issues are effectively developed based on identified risks, implemented, and communicated
• Monitor action plans related to fire safety
