Underwriter: Personal Lines

An established and reputable insurance company is looking for an experienced Personal Lines Underwriter to join their dynamic team. Required Qualifications

• Matric (Grade 12)
• NQF 5 in Short-Term Insurance
• Regulatory Exam Level 1
• Minimum four (4) years of Personal Underwriting experience
• Experience in Personal Lines Class of Business
• DOFA confirmation from FSB
• Cardinal 360 system experience (advantageous)

Key Responsibilities

Underwriting Standards & Client Service

• Issue new policies, renewals, and endorsements on the Cardinal 360 System
• Prepare new business quotes
• Underwrite in accordance with company standards, policies, and procedures
• Support the sales team in acquiring and retaining profitable business
• Handle administration and written communication
• Process all documentation accurately and correctly
• Check and authorise documentation prior to dispatch
• Resolve client queries in accordance with company standards
• Negotiate renewal terms and prepare renewal documentation
• Complete renewal reviews timeously
• Calculate retentions
• Request and monitor survey requirements as per established procedures
• Correct unprofitable policies
• Ensure policies are not overexposed
• Review policies before sending to clients
• Provide telephone support to clients regarding queries, amendments, and additional covers
• Save all work electronically

Service Delivery & Customer Satisfaction

• Maintain service quality and desired outputs within the functional process
• Ensure compliance with tactical policies, procedures, and standards
• Deliver customer satisfaction through quality service delivery
