Ice Production Technician (Full-Time)

About the Role

HQ Suppliers (Pty) Ltd is seeking a reliable, technically minded full-time Ice Production Technician to manage day-to-day operations at our ice production facility in Paarden Eiland, Johannesburg. This is a hands-on position suited to someone who enjoys practical work, thinks logically, and takes pride in precision, efficiency, and quality.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate and monitor ice-making machines and water treatment plant
• Harvest, store, and manage ice blocks
• Cut ice by hand using floor and table band saws
• Dry, pack, and store finished ice products
• Conduct quality control and meet daily production targets
• Maximise production and minimise waste through logical planning and accurate cutting
• Manage an assistant while working under a production supervisor

• Working efficiently and independently

Requirements

• Experience with band saws or similar machinery (highly beneficial)
• Technically minded, hands-on approach with logical thinking
• Ability to work independently and manage an assistant
• Fit and healthy, capable of manual work and occasional heavy lifting
• Reliable, detail-oriented, and safety-conscious

Location & Transport

Must live close to Paarden Eiland or have reliable personal transport.

Working Hours & Compensation

• 45 hours per week
• Flexible days and hours may be required to meet production demands
• Saturdays: paid at normal rate
• Sundays: paid at 1.5× rate
• Public holidays: paid at 2× rate
• Hourly rate: R60
• Paid weekly
