An Accountant

About the Role

Our client, an established company within the financial sector, is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Accountant to join their team. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual with strong planning and organising abilities to grow their career within a reputable organisation.

Required Qualifications

• Accounting Degree (BCom or BCompt (Acc))
• Completed articles and 3 years experience in accounting function, OR
• 10 years experience in accounting
• Pension fund accounting experience (beneficial)

Key Responsibilities

Procurement and Suppliers

• Review primary source documents
• Ensure adherence to the Company's policies, procedures, budget limits and Levels of Authority regarding goods and services procured
• Complete "checks" on completeness of supporting documentation maintained
• Monitor and enforce supplier payment terms

General Accounting Records and Reconciliations

• Review cash books and bank reconciliations
• Review supplier reconciliations
• Review fixed asset registers
• Process non-routine and complex journal entries and review journal entries posted by bookkeeper
• Prepare balance sheet reconciliation schedules for account balances and review schedules prepared by bookkeeper to ensure appropriate reconciliation
• Ensure validity, accuracy and completeness of transactions processed in the accounting records in a consistent manner
• Ensure accuracy and completeness of intercompany and related party transactions and balances confirmed on intercompany transaction schedules and confirmations
• Prepare calculations of amounts recognised in the accounting records where required
• Prepare and review payroll information with supporting documentation
• Review instructions received in relation to specific entities and ensure instructions are relevant and accurate
