## Title: People and Culture Director
About the Role
Greenpeace is seeking a People and Culture Director to lead organizational and staff development strategies across Greenpeace Africa (GPAF). This strategic leadership position is responsible for conceptualizing, planning, and implementing comprehensive people and culture initiatives that align with organizational objectives.
Position Details
- Department: People and Culture
- Reports to: Executive Director (with dotted line reporting to Deputy Executive Director)
- Location: One of GPAF's Operational Offices (South Africa, Cameroon, Senegal, Kenya) with flexibility for hybrid work arrangements
Purpose of the Role
The People and Culture Director will oversee the development and implementation of integrated people strategies encompassing:
- HR systems and remuneration frameworks
- Job evaluation and compensation planning
- Learning, training, and staff development programs
- Capacity building and talent retention initiatives
- Performance management and succession planning
- Organizational climate and diversity management
- Employment equity and labour relations
Key Responsibilities
Strategy, Policy Development, Review and Implementation
- Provide strategic direction to GPAF by restructuring and aligning the HR function to meet organizational strategic objectives
- Draft, review, and implement HR policies and procedures across the entire HR value chain
- Deliver strategic guidance and advice to all management levels, including the Board, on employee and labour relations matters
- Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies for different organizational scenarios
- Provide expert legal counsel on employment matters and compliance processes
- Support GPAF strategy by establishing strategic HR goals that advance organizational objectives
Employee and Labour Relations
- Deliver efficient and effective employee and labour relations services across all staff levels
- Manage relationships with staff and workplace forums as a key member of the negotiating team
- Develop and implement comprehensive labour relations policies and strategies
