Reports To: Junior Geologist

Number of Positions: 6

Job Description

The MRM Assistant will assist the Junior Geologist and Junior Surveyor in completing all daily tasks, both underground and on surface. This is a physically demanding role that includes lifting and carrying heavy equipment and samples, as well as walking and climbing. While each Assistant may be assigned different tasks, proficiency with all aspects of day-to-day geological and survey processes is required.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist the Geologist and Surveyors with underground and surface surveying activities
• Prepare equipment for daily tasks
• Carry equipment to and from positions where Geologists or Surveyors perform their work
• Assist in mapping surface and underground features
• Drill holes in rock to install survey pegs
• Ensure the Surveyor can clearly see the prism when using a Total station
• Participate in sample preparation including weighing, crushing, mechanical sieving, riffle splitting, cone quartering, panning, and packaging
• Collect and carry samples from designated collection areas
• Safeguard equipment during underground and surface operations
