Chief Accountant

About the Role

Gisovu Tea Co. Ltd, located in Karongi District, Rwanda, is seeking a suitably qualified, detail-oriented, dynamic, and self-motivated professional to fill the Chief Accountant position.

As Chief Accountant, you will oversee all general accounting operations by ensuring accurate financial reporting, compliance with regulations, and the efficiency of financial processes. You must possess strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and leadership abilities to support the financial health of the organization.

Key Responsibilities

• Review all financial-related supporting documents initiated for payments
• Post all financial transactions in the accounting software
• Prepare monthly and annual financial closing reports
• Ensure timely issuance of EBM (Electronic Billing Machine) for local and export sales before deadlines
• Maintain accurate financial records and filing systems for future reference
• Prepare and support financial forecasts and budget planning
• Monitor supplier payments and ensure timely settlements
• Review payroll calculations and process payments accurately
• Ensure timely monthly and annual declarations of all taxes and statutory deductions
• Conduct monthly and annual financial and tea stock reconciliations
• Conduct monthly reviews of material stock
• Support the storekeeper in proper account allocation during item issuance
• Supervise monthly and year-end stock-taking activities
• Prepare conference call data for financial reviews
• Generate weekly KPI reports to assess financial performance
• Prepare administrative documents and official letters as required
• Ensure compliance with internal controls and financial policies
• Support internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting
