Position Overview

Job Grade: C3

Department: Safety, Health, Environment & Community

Reports To: Health & Safety Section Leader

Under the direction of the Safety and Health Section Leader, the Safety & Health Officer will be responsible for all safety and health inspection activities at the area of operation.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct daily, weekly, and monthly inspection activities
• Identify and report nonconformities in operations in a timely manner
• Ensure Health and Safety Procedures are followed consistently
• Assist in the investigation of incidents to determine root causes and implement corrective actions
• Follow up on and ensure completion of corrective actions
• Identify, request, and distribute necessary Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to users
• Enforce proper use of PPE in all operations
• Create Health and Safety awareness across operations
• Maintain all necessary records properly and accurately
• Follow mine plans and enforce health and safety standards in operation
• Manage Safety Representatives effectively, including staffing needs, tools of trade, performance management, training and development, leave scheduling, welfare, and discipline management
• Partner with other Mine Supervisors to facilitate optimum performance
• Understand, promote, and operate in accordance with Company vision, values, objectives, and strategies
• Write and submit daily, weekly, and monthly reports to the OHS Section Leader in a timely manner
