IT Engineer – for Mining Technology & Systems Intern

Position Overview

Lyon Mining Services Ltd is seeking an IT Engineer intern for a 6-month paid internship position based in Kigali, Rwanda. Upon successful completion, this role may lead to a full-time employment offer.

Role Purpose

Design, deploy, operate, secure, and maintain IT and communication systems including UHF/VHF radios, communication repeaters and amplifiers, sensors, telemetry systems, and UHF/VHF radio networks.

Networking & Infrastructure

• TCP/IP, VLANs, VPNs
• LAN/WAN (surface & underground)
• Fiber optics (single & multi-mode)
• Wireless networks (Wi-Fi, PTP radios)
• Network troubleshooting & monitoring

Communication Systems

• UHF/VHF radios
• Repeaters, antennas, amplifiers
• Emergency communication systems

Sensors & IoT Systems

• Environmental & equipment sensors
• Telemetry & SCADA basics
• Data acquisition & gateways

Servers & Data Management

• Windows & Linux servers
• Cloud basics (AWS/Azure/GCP)
• Data backup & synchronization
• Large LiDAR & SLAM datasets

Education & Certifications

• A1 or above in Electronics and Telecommunications, Computer Engineering, or Network Engineering

Required Skills
