Database and System Administrator

About the Position

The National Agricultural Export Development Board (NAEB) is seeking a self-motivated and qualified Database and System Administrator to join our team. This role offers the opportunity to manage critical database infrastructure and system operations supporting our organization's agricultural export initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain system databases with a focus on security enforcement and optimal performance
• Maintain data dictionary and monitor database performance to enforce organizational standards and security protocols
• Execute Data Extraction, Transformation, and Loading (ETL) operations to efficiently import large volumes of data from multiple systems into the data warehouse environment
• Monitor and tune specialized data handling systems to maintain efficiency and reliability
• Manage database backup and recovery procedures to ensure business continuity
• Set up and manage employee access controls as a critical aspect of database security
• Perform capacity planning to support organizational growth and new users
• Monitor databases for performance issues as part of ongoing system maintenance
• Optimize database tuning through physical configuration, indexing strategies, and query handling improvements
• Provide rapid troubleshooting and resolution of system problems when they occur

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or Computer Engineering
• Knowledge of Rwanda's ICT policies and strategies
• High proficiency with Microsoft Windows operating systems
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office products
• Proficiency in basic networking protocols and standards
• Knowledge of Active Directory (AD), Exchange, VPN, routers, and wireless internet access
• Knowledge of circuit boards and processors

Reporting Structure

This position reports directly to the Planning Division Manager.
