Job description

## Title: Fellows Program - Community Education Leaders (Cohort 2)

About Building Tomorrow

Founded in 2006, Building Tomorrow (BT) is a community-powered organization that harnesses the potential of local change-makers to connect learners across rural East Africa with transformational education programs. Through the organization's signature Roots to Rise (R2R) literacy and numeracy program, BT has enrolled more than 975,000 learners since the start of the program.

BT's work is powered by a team of over 20,000 Community Education Volunteers, in partnership with local and national-level stakeholders. In 2025, BT signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Rwanda's Ministry of Education, marking a significant milestone that strengthens the organization's locally-led model in Rwanda and expands sustainable education opportunities for learners throughout rural communities in East Africa.

The BT Fellowship Program

The BT Fellowship Program recruits, trains, and deploys dynamic recent college graduates to mobilize rural villages and create sustainable solutions that support inclusive and quality education in their communities. Through pre-service training, in-service coaching, and post-fellowship support, youth leaders become co-creators of innovative solutions.

Following the inaugural cohort in 2025, we are recruiting 50 Fellows for Cohort 2 to serve as change agents in Bugesera, Rwamagana, Kamonyi, Rulindo, and other regions to be determined. Fellows will work with Community Education Teams to implement the R2R program, complementing existing remedial programming offered in Rwandan schools.

Program Benefits & Development

The BT Fellowship is highly selective and offers young leaders the opportunity to practice and hone skills in the following areas:

  • Leadership and advocacy
  • Management and communications
  • Data management and analysis
  • Project design and management

Upon successful completion of the Fellowship, Fellows join a dynamic, creative, and driven cadre of organizational leaders.
