Position Overview
Job Title: Upgrading Plant Operator
Job Grade: B2
Department: Metallurgy
Reports To: Plant Supervisor
Number of Positions: 6
Job Description
The Plant Operator assists the Supervisor in ensuring that all minerals delivered to the plant are upgraded safely according to company standards. You will also assist with the mixing and packing of minerals for export purposes. While you may be assigned specific tasks such as crushing mineral, cleaning mineral, or operating shaking tables, you must be familiar with all activities within the upgrading process.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in weighing and recording minerals received at the plant before treatment
- Assist in weighing and recording minerals after treatment
- Ensure familiarity with procedures for all tasks and perform duties according to established procedures
- Take daily samples from minerals delivered by sub-contractors and other parties
- Strictly adhere to all health and safety standards and maintain correct Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
- Ensure all equipment is in good working order and report any breakdowns to the Upgrading Plant Supervisor
- Assist relevant parties in mixing and packing containers for export
- Ensure all tools and PPE are properly maintained and available
