Job Brief

Leads and coordinates the maintenance team to ensure machinery and equipment run safely and efficiently. Plans and assigns daily maintenance tasks, follows up on work completion, and checks quality. Monitors preventive maintenance schedules, reports breakdowns, and works with the manager to improve equipment performance. Ensures safety rules are followed, keeps records updated, and supports training of technicians.

Responsibilities

• Plan, develop and implement maintenance programs
• Assign daily maintenance tasks to technicians
• Supervise, coordinate and guide the maintenance team
• Monitor preventive maintenance schedules and ensure timely execution
• Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical issues in equipment and machinery
• Respond to machinery and equipment breakdowns and coordinate quick repairs
• Check quality of completed work and ensure standards are met
• Maintain accurate maintenance records and reports
• Ensure all safety procedures are followed
• Lead and mentor maintenance team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and accountability
• Communicate equipment issues and needs to the Maintenance Manager
• Perform any other duties as required by management

Requirements

• A0 or A1 Degree/Diploma in mechanical engineering, mechanical maintenance or related field
• Proven experience of 3 or more years in maintenance work
• Strong hands-on technical skills
• Valid Rwanda driving license (Category B minimum)
• Ability to supervise, guide, and evaluate teams
• Good understanding of preventive maintenance and troubleshooting
• Strong communication, reporting, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work under pressure and respond quickly to equipment issues
• Knowledge of maintenance management software (desirable)
