About Water For People
Water For People is an international non-profit organization dedicated to improving access to safe drinking water, adequate sanitation, and hygiene education in developing countries. The organization works locally, nationally, and globally to influence governments' water and sanitation policies to serve vulnerable populations. Water For People's program in Rwanda began in 2008, focusing on helping communities, schools, and healthcare facilities gain access to sustainable water, sanitation services, and hygiene behavior change.
About the Isoko Y'Ubuzima Project
The Isoko y'Ubuzima Project is a five-year Rwanda Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) activity funded by the United States Government. It is executed by a consortium led by Water For People and includes IRC, CARE International, VEI, and local partner African Evangelistic Enterprise (AEE). The project operates in 10 districts: Rwamagana, Kayonza, Ngoma, Kirehe, Nyagatare, Ruhango, Nyanza, Nyamagabe, Ngororero, and Nyabihu.
Project Goal: To improve access to and utilization of safe, sustainable drinking water, sanitation, and hygiene services.
Project Scope
The Isoko y'Ubuzima project aims to strengthen sanitation and hygiene markets and improve access to WASH services for all. The project has identified local community sanitation and hygiene products, including lower-cost latrine slabs, emptiable dry toilets, and handwashing solutions. The project has also developed community preference-based latrine designs through a human-centered design (HCD) approach.
Consultancy Assignment
Consultancy services are required to develop and design a comprehensive sanitation and hygiene products and services catalog that builds upon the existing local solutions and community-centered approaches identified by the project.
