About the Role
Godiya Cherished Care for Humanitarian Response Initiative (GCCHRI) is seeking a dedicated WASH Officer to support the planning, implementation, monitoring, and reporting of water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) interventions in Dikwa, Borno State. Working under the direct supervision of the Project Coordinator, you will ensure that all activities meet technical and quality standards, are delivered within timelines, and promote equitable access to safe water, improved sanitation, and positive hygiene behaviors.
Position Details
- Duration: 6 months (extendable)
- Location: Dikwa, Borno State, Nigeria

Key Responsibilities
- Support the Project Coordinator in planning, organizing, and implementing WASH activities in accordance with project workplans, donor requirements, and organizational standards
- Supervise contractors, artisans, and community workers to ensure quality and timely delivery of WASH infrastructure and services
- Develop technical specifications and verify the quality of materials and workmanship in procurement processes
- Oversee the installation, operation, and maintenance of water supply systems, including hand pumps and solar-powered systems
- Conduct and monitor water quality testing to ensure compliance with national and WHO standards
- Support the construction, operation, and maintenance of safe sanitation facilities for communities and institutions
- Facilitate Community-Led Total Sanitation (CLTS) or similar participatory approaches to eliminate open defecation
- Promote solid waste management, vector control, and environmental sanitation activities
- Design and implement hygiene promotion campaigns focusing on handwashing, food hygiene, and menstrual hygiene management (MHM)
- Train, mentor, and supervise community hygiene promoters and volunteers
Additional Expectations
The role involves supervising field implementation, supporting community engagement, ensuring compliance with standards, and contributing to capacity building and sustainability of WASH services.
