About the Role
We are seeking a qualified Treasury and Investment Officer to join Prudential Zenith Life Insurance in Lagos, Nigeria. This role is central to managing the organization's investment portfolio and treasury operations while ensuring alignment with institutional objectives and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Liaise and coordinate with other Investment Officers and bank staff to obtain information about current market conditions and investable assets for the organization
- Prepare project appraisals for presentation to departmental review committees, senior management, and the Board, including monthly investment operations reports
- Justify investments and obtain approvals from the Finance Director and Operations Committee
- Prepare and process payment approvals for investment funds
- Conduct continuous money market analysis and outlook reviews, monitor industry trends, and propose investment opportunities in fixed income securities, money market securities, equities, and real estate
- Undertake work on investment and development aspects, aligning them with institutional objectives
- Contribute to and coordinate investment strategy development at the regional level, providing input on projects and papers related to sector operations and development
- Evaluate, structure, and negotiate investments with a strong focus on credit and asset quality, including processing mandates, conducting due diligence, negotiating term sheets, managing syndications, and obtaining Board approval
- Prepare daily liquidity reports on funds available in company accounts
- Manage treasury operations to ensure funds are available to cover operating and investment activities
- Obtain high-quality investments with strong credit ratings and returns that align with both short and long-term investment objectives
- Ensure adequate matching of company liabilities with assets and contribute to documentation of lessons learned from investment operations to establish best practices
- Maintain accurate records of all investment and treasury operations
Required Knowledge and Qualifications
- Demonstrated knowledge of the company's internal investment policy and regulatory requirements, particularly NAICOM's investment policy
- Adequate knowledge of company products to ensure effective liability-asset management
- Understanding of credit analysis and asset quality evaluation
- Experience with investment documentation, term sheet negotiation, and syndication processes
