Steel Fabrication Quality Control Officers

About the Role

Sevan Construction Nigeria Limited is seeking an experienced professional to join our team in Lagos as a Steel Fabrication Quality Control Officer. This position is responsible for ensuring the highest standards of quality throughout the steel fabrication and construction process.

Key Responsibilities

• Approve incoming materials by confirming specifications, conducting visual and measurement tests, and rejecting unacceptable materials
• Inspect completed work and work in progress to determine compliance with specifications and project requirements
• Approve in-process and finished products by confirming specifications and conducting required tests
• Interpret and review shop drawings and technical documentation
• Monitor overall construction performance regarding technical quality and compliance with design requirements
• Document and update inspection results through comprehensive reports and logs
• Return products for rework when needed and complete documentation to confirm rework completion
• Prepare testing, qualification, and certification processes for welding as per project specifications
• Monitor welding operations to ensure work is carried out under proper conditions
• Provide accurate data and reports on welding inspection parameters and activities
• Provide professional supervision and mentoring to the welding and fabrication teams
• Work with the Factory Manager to identify approaches and methods to improve overall quality
• Educate workers on required standards and best practices
• Study applicable codes and project specifications
• Maintain a safe work environment by following standards, procedures, and legal regulations
• Coach and mentor junior employees and identify leadership development opportunities

Required Qualifications

• Relevant degree in Engineering, Building and Construction, Architecture, or Technology
• Minimum 4–8 years of experience in the steel fabrication industry
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and AutoCAD
