Senior Geo-Database & GIS Geologist at African Industries Group (AIG)

Job Summary

African Industries Group (AIG) is expanding its dynamic team and seeking a Senior Geo-Database & GIS Geologist to lead the design, implementation, and maintenance of exploration and mineral resource data systems. In this role, you will oversee all geo-data generated or acquired across exploration programmes, ensuring that data is validated, accurate, and accessible to end users at all times.

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure safety practices across all exploration data activities
• Establish a central data management system for GIS, borehole, and geochemical datasets using acQuire or similar platforms
• Develop and enforce data management protocols across all exploration projects
• Train users on standards and procedures, then monitor compliance
• Maintain and continuously improve all technical data management systems
• Manage and track technical software licenses
• Support mineral resource estimation and related modelling work
• Promote operational excellence through continuous improvement in mineral resource management

Required Experience and Qualifications

• Professional Geologist designation
• Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Geology; Master's degree (MSc, MEng, or equivalent) preferred
• Minimum 10 years of geology or mining experience, including at least 5 years in geo-database design, implementation, and mineral resource estimation for commodities such as copper, base metals, gold, silver, platinum, rare earth elements, and bulk minerals
• Strong capability in geology and orebody modelling
• High proficiency in geo-data management tools such as DAP, Datashed, and acQuire
• Strong proficiency in GIS platforms such as ArcGIS
• Understanding of ore-forming systems, exploration models, and mineral resource modelling software such as Datamine Studio RM and Leapfrog
• International or Africa-based experience across diverse geological environments
• Strong communication skills in technical reporting, presentation, and documentation
