Job Purpose
The Senior Administration and Operations Officer plays a critical role in enabling the effective, safe and compliant delivery of International Alert's Nigeria Country Programme. The position provides strategic and operational leadership for administrative, logistics and operational functions, ensuring that programme teams are supported by efficient systems, well-managed resources and a safe working environment.
The role is responsible for strengthening and maintaining operational systems that support staff, partners and programme implementation in complex and conflict-affected contexts. This includes ensuring compliance with International Alert policies, donor requirements and national regulations, while promoting value for money, accountability and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
Administration and Office Management
- Oversee the effective running of the Country Office and field offices, including facilities, utilities, and office services
- Ensure office policies, procedures and administrative systems are implemented and regularly updated
- Manage service contracts (cleaning, security, internet, utilities, equipment maintenance)
- Supervise administrative support staff and drivers
Logistics and Procurement Support
- Coordinate procurement processes in line with International Alert procurement policies and donor requirements
- Ensure transparent, timely and cost-effective procurement of goods and services
- Maintain procurement documentation, supplier databases and contract files
- Support logistics planning for programme activities, travel, workshops and events
Asset and Inventory Management
- Maintain accurate asset registers for all offices and projects
- Ensure proper tagging, tracking, maintenance and disposal of assets in line with policy
- Conduct regular physical asset verification and reconcile records
Human Resources and Staff Support
- Support human resources functions and staff welfare initiatives
