Senior Accountant at West African Ceramics Limited

About the Role

West African Ceramics Limited is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Senior Accountant with specialized knowledge in Import and Export Taxation and cross-border financial operations. The ideal candidate will manage and reconcile all financial activities related to international trade, ensuring compliance, accuracy, and timeliness in reporting.

Key Responsibilities

Import & Export Taxation

• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of import/export tax regulations and compliance requirements
• Liaise with customs and regulatory bodies to ensure accurate tax filings and documentation

Import Payment Tracking

• Develop and maintain a comprehensive tracker for all import-related payments
• Monitor payment schedules, due dates, and ensure timely disbursements

Accounting for Import Transactions

• Record and reconcile all import-related payments in the accounting system
• Ensure accurate classification and posting of import costs, duties, and freight charges

Bank Reconciliation

• Perform timely reconciliation of all bank accounts across multiple entities
• Investigate and resolve discrepancies between bank statements and internal records

Vendor Reconciliation

• Reconcile accounts with all import vendors on a regular basis
• Ensure vendor balances are accurate and disputes are resolved promptly

General Accounting Duties

• Independently manage accounting functions in an import/export environment
• Process bank payments and receipts with proper documentation and approvals
• Support month-end and year-end closing activities related to international transactions

Qualifications & Skills

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (ICAN preferred)
• Minimum 5 years of experience in accounting, with at least 2 years in import/export operations
• Strong understanding of international taxation, customs duties, and trade finance
• Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, QuickBooks)
• Excellent analytical and organizational skills
