Senior Accountant at Wells Carlton Hotel & Apartments

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Senior Chartered Accountant to oversee general accounting operations by controlling and verifying financial transactions. This role requires excellent analytical skills, a thorough knowledge of accounting principles, and experience in collaborating with and managing a team of accountants.

Key Responsibilities

• Verify, allocate, post and reconcile accounts payable and receivable
• Reconcile account balances and bank statements
• Maintain general ledger and prepare month-end close procedures
• Produce error-free accounting reports and present results
• Analyze financial information and summarize financial status
• Identify errors and suggest ways to improve efficiency and spending
• Provide technical support and advice on management accounting
• Review and recommend modifications to accounting systems and procedures
• Manage accounting assistants and bookkeepers
• Participate in financial standards setting and forecast processes
• Provide input into department goal-setting processes
• Prepare financial statements and produce budgets according to schedule
• Assist with tax audits and tax returns
• Direct internal and external audits to ensure compliance
• Plan, assign and review staff work
• Support month-end and year-end close processes
• Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls
• Ensure compliance with GAAP principles
• Liaise with Financial Manager and Accounting Manager to improve financial procedures

Requirements and Skills

• BSc Degree in Accounting or Chartered Accountant qualification
• Proven experience as a Financial Controller, Accounting Supervisor, Chief Accountant, or Senior Accountant
• Thorough knowledge of basic accounting procedures
• In-depth understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
